“You LIE!”

Democrats promised “fiscal discipline”.

Democrats promised “’Pay As You Go’ budget discipline”.

Democrats promised “no more deficit spending”.

Democrats LIED.

======================

Voters have been saying ‘yes’ to fiscal responsibility in every election since 2006.

In 2006 and 2008, the Democrats had voters fooled into believing that they were the more fiscally responsible party, and that they would keep the promises they were making about fiscal discipline.

Here is what Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats promised in 2006 in order to win the elections and control of Congress:

Over the past decade, the Republican controlled Congress took our nation in the wrong direction. Too many Americans are paying a heavy price for those wrong choices: record costs for energy, health care and education; jobs shipped overseas; and budgets that heap record debt on our children. For millions, the middle-class dream has been replaced by a middle-class squeeze…

Democrats are proposing a New Direction for America…

With integrity, civility and fiscal discipline, our New Direction for America will use commonsense principles to address the aspirations and fulfill the hopes and dreams of all Americans. That is our promise to the American people….

Our federal budget should be a statement of our national values. One of those values is responsibility. Democrats are committed to ending years of irresponsible budget policies that have produced historic deficits. Instead of piling trillions of dollars of debt onto our children and grandchildren, we will restore “Pay As You Go” budget discipline.

Budget discipline has been abandoned by the Bush Administration and its Republican congressional majorities. Congress under Republican control has turned a projected $5.6 trillion 10-year surplus at the end of the Clinton years into a nearly $3 trillion deficit– including the four worst deficits in the history of America. The nation’s debt ceiling has been raised four times in just five years to more than $8.9 trillion. Nearly half of our nation’s record debt is owned by foreign countries including China and Japan. Without a return to fiscal discipline, the foreign countries that make our computers, our clothing and our toys will soon be making our foreign policy. Deficit spending is not just a fiscal problem – it’s a national security issue as well.

Our New Direction is committed to “Pay As You Go” budgeting – no more deficit spending.

And here is what Nancy Pelosi promised on January 4, 2007 when she became Speaker of the House:

After years of historic deficits, this 110th Congress will commit itself to a higher standard: pay-as-you-go, no new deficit spending. Our new America will provide unlimited opportunity for future generations, not burden them with mountains of debt.

– New Speaker Nancy Pelosi, 01/04/2007

Nancy Pelosi was Speaker of the House from January 4, 2007 to January 3, 2011.

How much new debt was created during her 4 years as speaker?

Go to Debt to the Penny, and search on the period 1/4/2007 – 1/3/2011.
01/03/2011 $13,997,932,781,828.89
– 01/04/2007 $8,670,596,242,973.04
———————————————–
$5,327,336,538,855.85

That is over $5.3 TRILLION.

Again, Pelosi and the Democrats promised:

Instead of piling trillions of dollars of debt onto our children and grandchildren, we will restore “Pay As You Go” budget discipline… no more deficit spending.

And what did they deliver?

In just 4 short years as Speaker, Pelosi added over $5.3 TRILLION in new debt, increasing the total national debt by over 60% in just 4 short years!!!.

============================================================

And it didn’t end there. Democrats still control the Senate and the Presidency. And therefore, Democrats still have majority control over the budgeting and spending process.

Let’s see what Obama himself had to say about deficits, debt, and “Pay-go”…

By Obama’s own standard, he himself is more “un-American” than George W. Bush:

“The problem is, is that the way Bush has done it over the last eight years is to take out a credit card from the Bank of China in the name of our children, driving up our national debt from $5 trillion for the first 42 presidents – #43 added $4 trillion by his lonesome, so that we now have over $9 trillion of debt that we are going to have to pay back — $30,000 for every man, woman and child. That’s irresponsible. It’s unpatriotic.

Barack Obama July 3, 2008

On the day Obama said that, July 3, 2008, the Total Public Debt Outstanding http://www.treasurydirect.gov/NP/BPDLogin?application=np was $9,492,245,770,798.70 (under $9.5 Trillion)

When Obama said that, we were starting the fourth quarter of the FY 2008 budget… which had been passed by the Nancy Pelosi House and Harry Reid Senate (which included Senator Barack Obama, Senator Joe Biden, and Senator Hillary Clinton). Yes, it was signed, not vetoed, by President Bush, but Obama can’t blame the FY 2008 deficit on “the way Bush has done it”.

Democrats have held majority control (controlling 2+ out of 3 of the House, Senate, and Presidency) since January 2007.

Here’s what Obama had to say about “Pay-go” on June  9, 2009:

We now have over $15.9 trillion of debt that we are going to have to pay back — over $50,000 for every man, woman and child. To repeat Obama’s own words back to him:

That’s irresponsible. It’s unpatriotic.

Democrats have been in majority control of the spending process (holding 2+ out of 3 of the House, Senate, and Presidency) since January 3, 2007.

The day that George W. Bush was no longer in the majority party, and Barack H. Obama began being in the majority party, was not January 20, 2009… rather it was January 3, 2007.

And since they took majority control, the Democrat majority has been adding about $1.4 Trillion per year to the national debt each and every year.

Recent debt numbers are:
08/09/2012 $15,915,814,457,919.46
– 01/04/2007 $8,670,596,242,973.04
———————————————–
$7,245,218,214,946.42

The 5 worst fiscal year deficits in the history of this country have ALL come at the hands of a Democratic majority in Washington, D.C. AFTER they promised “no more deficit spending”!

Democrats have increased the total national debt by $7.25 TRILLION after they criticised Bush for adding $4 Trillion (over 8 years) and after they promised “no more deficit spending”!

What the Democrats promised was “no more deficit spending”.

What the Democrats delivered was well over $7 Trillion in new debt, coming close to doubling what the total national debt was when they took power in January 2007.

They are LIARS and they cannot be trusted.

They promised fiscal discipline and “no more deficit spending”, but have increased the total national debt from $8.67 Trillion to $15.92 Trillion (an increase of 84%) in just over 5 and a half years.

And they haven’t passed a budget in over 3 years.

Any voter who wants fiscal sanity MUST vote Republican in November.

To vote for a Democrat and expect fiscal discipline is INSANE (doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result).

Voters have been saying ‘yes’ to fiscal responsibility in every election since 2006.  They got fooled in 2006 and 2008, but after seeing what the Democrats did in 2009, fiscal conservatives knew they had to vote Republican in 2010, and did so in such numbers that the 2009 Democrats did more damage to their party than Richard Nixon and Watergate did to the Republican Party.

Richard Nixon resigned on August 9, 1974, and three months later, Democrats flipped:

3 seats in the US Senate
49 seats in the US House
628 seats in state legislatures

In the wake of Porkulus and Obamacare, Republicans flipped:

6 seats in the US Senate
63 seats in the US House
680 seats in state legislatures

As Ed Morrissey posted at 2:55 pm on November 4, 2010:

Obama has been called Nixonian before, but never in this context. When he charged to victory in 2008, Democrats thought they had unlocked the secret of marrying a progressive to the broad center of American politics. Instead, his radical agenda has alienated the center and leaves Democrats with a sharply reduced national base for their future.

  1. Republicans took majority control (2+ out of 3) of the House, Senate, and Presidency on January 3, 1995 at the start of the 104th Congress, and held majority control for 12 years until the start of the 110th Congress on January 3, 2007. Democrats still hold majority control today, but fiscal conservatives are looking to change that with the November 2012 elections.

Let’s compare the average amount of new debt per year added by Republicans for the Fiscal Year budgets they passed (FY 1996 to FY 2007) as compared to the average amount of new debt per year added by Democrats (with or without a budget) FY 2008 to present.

    09/29/1995 $4,973,982,900,709.39
    http://www.treasurydirect.gov/govt/reports/pd/histdebt/histdebt_histo4.htm
    09/30/2007 $9,007,653,372,262.48
    http://www.treasurydirect.gov/govt/reports/pd/histdebt/histdebt_histo5.htm

In 12 (fiscal) years, Republicans added a total of $4,033,670,471,553.09 ($4 Trillion) to the total national debt, for an average of $336,139,205,962.76 ($336 Billion) per year.

    08/09/2012 $15,915,814,457,919.46
    http://www.treasurydirect.gov/NP/BPDLogin?application=np

We still have the remainder of August, and all of September, before we reach the end of FY 2012. But using the August 9th numbers as (314/366 = 0.86) of the fiscal year, the Democrat majorities have raised the Fiscal Year deficits $15,915,814,457,919.46 – $9,007,653,372,262.48 = $6,908,161,085,656.98 in 4.86 years, for an average of $1,422,039,908,521.07 ($1,422 Billion or $1.422 Trillion) per year.

Recap: Republicans held majority control for 12 straight years, increasing the national debt by an average of $366 Billion per year. The Democrats condemned that and pledged “fiscal discipline”, “pay as you go”, and “no more deficit spending”. A deceived electorate gave the Democrats all the power they wanted, and the Democrats have increased the national debt by an average of $1,422 Billion ($1.422 Trillion) per year for the last 5 years, raising the total national debt from $9 Trillion to what will be over $16 Trillion by fiscal year end 2012.

Deficit spending under the Democrat majority has been 4.23 times the average deficit spending of the Republican majorities from 1995-2006 (FY 1996-2007).

Democrats promised to be more fiscally responsible. They LIED, and have been more than 4 times more fiscally irresponsible.

It’s time for a NEW DIRECTION.

    It’s time for a CHANGE.

Iron-clad and eminently reasoned. Alas, there are so few reasonable, so many treasonable.
