Thinking Outside the Box

How many dimensions does a box have?

We live in a four dimensional world (three spatial dimensions plus the Einsteinian fourth dimension of time).

We are like the inhabitants of Flatland (book, movie) … it is difficult for us to understand dimensions beyond the four dimensions that we live in .

String theory strongly suggests that spacetime has eleven dimensions.[1]

When “thinking outside the box”, think outside of four dimensions.

You know who thinks outside the box?

Just as the three-dimensional inhabitants of “spaceland” are not constricted to the two-dimensions of “flatland”, God is not limited to our three spatial dimensions or time.

The following passage seems to suggest four spatial dimensions:

that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Ephesians 3:17-19

God is not limited in the time dimension like we are.  He reveals that in verses like:

Declaring the end from the beginning,
And from ancient times things that are not yet done,
Saying, ‘My counsel shall stand,
And I will do all My pleasure,’

Isaiah 46:10

Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”

John 8:58

Alpha (uppercase Α, lowercase α) is the first letter (beginning) of the Greek alphabet.

Omega (uppercase  Ω, lowercase ω) is the last letter (end) of the Greek alphabet.

God is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End.  God is (present) and was (past) and is to come (future), the Almighty.

“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Revelation 1:8

And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts.

Revelation 21:6

I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”

Revelation 22:13

God’s ways and thoughts are higher than our ways and thoughts:

“ For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts.

Isaiah 55:9

God wants us to think like Him.  He wants us to have the mind of Christ.

For “who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

1 Corinthians 2:16

Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,

Philippians 2:5

Are you searching for the truth, as I was?

Jesus Christ is the truth.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

John 14:6

Are you ready to accept the truth, and ask Jesus Christ to be the Lord of your life? Are you ready to do as the Philippian jailer did?

But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed. And the keeper of the prison, awaking from sleep and seeing the prison doors open, supposing the prisoners had fled, drew his sword and was about to kill himself. But Paul called with a loud voice, saying, “Do yourself no harm, for we are all here.”

Then he called for a light, ran in, and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. And he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”

So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes. And immediately he and all his family were baptized. Now when he had brought them into his house, he set food before them; and he rejoiced, having believed in God with all his household.

Acts 16:25-34

that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”

Romans 10:9-13
