Obama vs. Jesus

[Italics mine]

Obama: “A bill to require…the elimination of extreme global poverty”

Jesus: “For the poor you have with you always, but Me you do not have always.”

Our focus should not be on requiring the unattainable goal of eliminating poverty.  Barack Obama wants to take your money and “Spread the Wealth” not just within the United States, but around the world.

Our focus should be on Jesus Christ.

If we focused on Jesus Christ and sharing His Good News with them, we would be dealing with global poverty the way Jesus instructed us to:

Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see: The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.”

Matthew 11:4-6

The blind…see
the lame…walk
the lepers…are cleansed
the deaf…hear
the dead…are raised up
–and–
the poor…have the gospel preached to them.

Obama’s plan is to use the government to take money away from you and give it to the poor. Historically, that money ends up in the hands of dictators, not the poor. A case study is the United Nations Oil-for-food program, which resulted in money going to corrupt bureaucrats and Saddam Hussein, not poor people.

Jesus’ plan is to preach the gospel to the poor.

Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.

That is the answer to global poverty.

So why did Jesus say, ”the poor you have with you always”?

Because there will always be people who reject Jesus Christ, even though He is the way, the truth and the life.

    Baptism is not what saves you. You have misquoted 1 Peter 3:21.

    Baptism is what you do as an act of obedience to God after you have done the following two things to be saved:

    1) Confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus
    (confess with your mouth, “Jesus Christ is Lord!“)

    2) Believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead

    See Romans 10:9-10.

    Wrong! (But that’s the Democratic Socialist Communist Party sales pitch…)

    Show me where our country’s founding document, the Declaration of Independence, says that. It doesn’t. What it does say about the purpose of government, why governments are instituted among men, is to protect (secure) our God-given (Creator-endowed) unalienable rights:

    We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the consent of the governed…

    Read Declaration 1.0, particularly the list that follows this:
