Oh, the Irony!

Let me also say that I remain distressed that the White House during this confirmation process, which overall went smoothly, failed to provide critical documents as part of the record that could have provided us with a better basis to make our judgment with respect to the nomination. This White House continues to stymie efforts on the part of the Senate to do its job.

-Remarks of Senator Barack Obama on the Confirmation of Judge John Roberts

Now the Senate will soon be voting on the confirmation of Judge Sotomayor to become a Supreme Court Justice. Before the Senate can do that, however, they will have to put to rest the questions about Obama’s Constitutional eligibility to hold the office of President and therefore to make this nomination.

What documents have Senators inspected to ensure that Obama was born on U.S. soil? What have Senators done to erase the doubts, raised by the U.S. Supreme Court after the 14th Amendment, about whether or not a child of a non-Citizen could be considered a “natural born Citizen”?

Yet, Barack Obama has failed to provide critical documents (his original birth certificate, among others) as part of the record that could have provided Congress with a better basis to make their judgment with respect to his eligibility to make this nomination.

And did you catch the very next line? Here it is:

I hope with the next nominee who comes up for the Supreme Court that the White House recognizes that in fact it is its duty not just to the Senate but to the American people to make sure we can thoroughly and adequately evaluate the record of every single nominee who comes before us.

I hope the Obama White House recognizes that in fact it is its duty not just to the Senate but to the American people to make sure we can thoroughly and adequately evaluate the record of Barack Obama.

Where’s your birth certificate, Barry?

Where are your college records, Barry?

Where are your passport records, Barry?

It is your duty to the American people to make sure we can thoroughly and adequately evaluate your record and your eligibility to hold the office of President.

Sowing and reaping, Barry, sowing and reaping.

  1. tre says:

I had to go through all sorts of background checks, and prove my citizenship, to get work on an FAA facility.

Duh One can be elected President, and doesn’t need to prove diddly squat.

    I don’t get it.

  2. By the way, I have archived the Obama statement, in case they decide to scrub it.
