It is the same as the Program of the Communist Party USA, which mentions variations on the word “race” (racial, racism, racist) 124 times and variations on the word “oppress” (oppression, oppressed) 116 times and carries the same theme: that white male capitalists are racist oppressors and the system (capitalism) must be dismantled.

Communist Bill Ayers said, “education is the motor-force of revolution“.

It’s no surprise then that so many Communists are college educators, indoctrinating today’s youth.

Birds of a Feather

Normally in such circumstances, an American president would show reserve. The weirdly ebullient Mr. Obama did not, and that image was the photo seen ’round the world.

In New York this week, I asked a former Eastern European dissident who spent time in prison under the Communists: “If you were sitting in a cell in Cuba, Iran or Syria and saw this photo of a smiling American president shaking hands with a smiling Hugo Chávez, what would you think?“

He said: “I would think that I was losing ground.”

The hopeful way to view the Obama administration’s openings to Chávez, the Castros, Iran and the others would be: This had better work. Because if it doesn’t, a lot of people who’ve spent years working in opposition to these regimes — in hiding or in prison in Iran, Syria, Cuba, Venezuela, China, Russia, Burma, Libya, Egypt, Sudan, Zimbabwe, Uzbekistan — are going to get hammered. North Korea’s opposition is invisible.

Other than physically controlling their populations, the biggest problem for autocrats — most of them narcissistic monomaniacs — is maintaining the legitimacy of their authority, which by definition is always on thin ice. To Mr. Obama and his handlers perhaps it was just a photo-op. For Mr. Chávez it was priceless.

I saw this in print, and felt compelled to link to it online. It’s not “weird” to me that Obama was “ebullient”… he was ecstatic to be with his fellow comrade.

The Road to Socialism Communism.

Socialism will usher in a new era in this county. The great wealth of the U.S. will for the first time be for the benefit of all the people. Foreign policy will be based on mutual respect, peace, and solidarity. The people’s democratic rights will be guaranteed and expanded. Racial, gender, and social equality will be the basis of domestic policies and practices. Socialism is not a dream, but a necessity to working people’s lives. Only socialism has the solutions to the problems of capitalism in this country.

U.S. Congress Moved to Import 20,000 Bibles

I initially posted this as a comment in the “Atheist Hitchens Wrong About Founders” post, but decided to break it out into its own post and expand on a few additional thoughts…

“September 11th”, for most people, brings memories of September 11th, 2001.

But there is something good and important to remember about September 11th, 1777. On that day, the Congress of the United States of America moved to import 20,000 copies of the most important book of the American Revolution… the Bible.

Initially, the U.S. Congress desired to have Bibles printed in the U.S.A. under their care and by their encouragement…

…but when it was determined that procuring the necessary materials would be extremely difficult, the U.S. Congress voted to import Bibles instead…

“That, your committee are of opinion, considerable difficulties will attend the procuring the types and paper; that, afterwards, the risque of importing them will considerably enhance the cost, and that the calculations are subject to such uncertainty in the present state of affairs, that Congress cannot much rely on them: that the use of the Bible is so universal, and its importance so great, that your committee refer the above to the consideration of Congress, and if Congress shall not think it expedient to order the importation of types and paper, your committee recommend that Congress will order the Committee of Commerce to import 20,000 Bibles from Holland, Scotland, or elsewhere, into the different ports of the states in the Union:”

Whereupon, the Congress was moved, to order the Committee of Commerce to import twenty thousand copies of the Bible;

The question being put, the house was divided:
