Who is the “Reagan Republican”?

Ronald Reagan gave this speech.

Please read that speech and listen to the recording of President Reagan delivering that speech. Then ask, in the current Presidential race, “Who is the real ‘Reagan Republican’?

John McCain has called himself a “Reagan Republican”.  But is he?  Let’s take a look…

John McCain said:

Neither party should be defined by pandering to the outer reaches of American politics and the agents of intolerance, whether they be Louis Farrakhan or Al Sharpton on the left, or Pat Robertson or Jerry Falwell on the right.

Would Ronald Reagan have called Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell “agents of intolerance”?

No.

Would Ronald Reagan have called standing up for Biblical values “pandering to the outer reaches of American politics”?

No.

Would Ronald Reagan have supported restrictions on free speech, such as those found in the McCain-driven McCain-Feingold Act?

No.

Would Ronald Reagan have taken money from Socialist George Soros?

No, no, a thousand times No!

So, is John McCain a “Reagan Republican”?

No.

Contrast that with this…

Would Ronald Reagan have supported a Human Life Amendment?

Yes.

Would Ronald Reagan have honored Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell?

Yes.

Would Ronald Reagan have quoted Bible passages in his speeches?

Yes.

Would Ronald Reagan have supported the teaching of Intelligent Design?

Yes.

So, who is a “Reagan Republican”?  There is a candidate who supports the things Ronald Reagan supported.  That candidate was labeled a “Liberal” by the same people who call John McCain a “Reagan Republican”.  No one reading this blog knew Ronald Reagan better than Ed Rollins.  And Ed Rollins said:

Governor Huckabee has probably inspired me as much as Ronald Reagan did,” Rollins said after being introduced by Huckabee at a press conference here. “I’ve looked a long time to find a candidate like that…A lot of people walk around talking about the Reagan days and the next Reagan. I was with the old Reagan and I can promise you that this man comes as close as anyone to filling those shoes.

John McCain used Fred Thompson as a stalking horse.  Thompson attacked Mike Huckabee in debates and ensured that John McCain, not Mike Huckabee, won the SC primary.  I was initially deceived by Fred Thompson, but now I do not trust Fred Thompson

John McCain blew off Values Voters not once, but twice.

Now John McCain wants to act like he’s one of us.

John McCain is not one of us.  John McCain is not a Reagan Republican.

Mike Huckabee is a Reagan Republican.

  1. seekeronos says:

What this nation needs is a Robert Taft Republican, or a Calvin Coolidge Republican.

Dr. Ron Paul was that man, and I think Dr. Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution Party is another.

However, I think the MSM has duped the “low information voters” for far too long, and we are doomed to either Socialist “A” (McCain) or Socialist “B” (Obama).

May God have mercy upon us, and lead us to a nationwide, true repentance as called for in II Chron. 7:14.

  2. seekeronos,

    Thank you for your comment.

Yes, we need to repent and pray, and we need to do it now.

I believe that enough believers are doing so right now that it is making a difference in this country. The awakening in the House of Representatives is an example. Good people are standing up to the domestic enemies of our Constitution and our Republic.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you,
    Red Pill
